From May 23rd to June 6th, 2026, I participated in 100 Artists at Palazzo Fani, one of the most interesting national group exhibitions dedicated to contemporary Italian art. The event was held for its seventh edition in Tuscania, inside the historic Palazzo Fani, and brought together about one hundred artists selected from over three hundred applications from all over Italy. For me, it was a precious opportunity to present a new work and engage with many different artistic realities.
An event that promotes art and the local area
The event is made possible thanks to the commitment of the Cultural Association Tourism Art Entertainment, better known as ACTAS. For over forty years, this organization has promoted cultural initiatives in the Tuscania area and continues to support contemporary art. What particularly fascinates me is the dialogue between the city's historical heritage and contemporary artistic research, an encounter that allows the works to acquire new interpretations and new meanings.
100 Artists at Palazzo Fani in the splendid setting of Palazzo Fani
One of the most evocative elements of the 100 Artists at Palazzo Fani is certainly the location. Palazzo Fani is a sixteenth-century noble residence located in the heart of Tuscania's historic center. Its historic rooms become the ideal stage to host very different contemporary artistic languages. Walking through these spaces means experiencing a connection between past and present, creating a continuous dialogue between architecture, memory, and creativity.
A journey through painting, sculpture, and photography
The exhibition 100 Artists at Palazzo Fani has always been divided into three main categories: painting, sculpture, and photography. The exhibition features figurative, abstract, and experimental works, offering a very broad overview of contemporary Italian artistic production. It is this variety that makes the exhibition particularly interesting both for those who regularly follow the art world and for those who wish to approach different creative languages for the first time.
100 Artists at Palazzo Fani as an opportunity for encounter
Every exhibition represents much more than a simple display for me. Events like 100 Artists at Palazzo Fani become opportunities to create connections, meet new artists, and interact with different audiences. I profoundly believe that art lives primarily through encounters with people. Each observer brings a different story and interprets the works through their own sensibility, thus enriching the very meaning of the exhibited work.
The work I presented: The Language of Flowers
For this edition of 100 Artists at Palazzo Fani, I proposed a new work entitled The Language of Flowers. It is a diptych, soon to be a triptych, created this year using black and white Indian ink, alcohol-based Promarker Pantone pens, wax, gold pigment, and a collage of deep black paper hand-stitched with waxed thread on Fabriano Tiepolo paper. A work that combines drawing, material, and manual interventions in a unique composition designed to tell stories of emotions and human relationships.
100 Artists at Palazzo Fani and the secret language of flowers
The idea behind the work comes from floriography, a practice very common in the nineteenth century. Through this symbolic language, each flower took on a precise meaning and became a means to communicate feelings difficult to express in words. Here at 100 Artists at Palazzo Fani, I chose to revive this tradition, transforming it into a contemporary reflection. Flowers thus become living symbols, capable of telling stories of affectionate bonds, memories, and gratitude.
The people who inspired The Language of Flowers
At the center of The Language of Flowers are the most important people in my life. At 100 Artists at Palazzo Fani, I decided to present them through specific floral combinations, constructed based on the symbolic meanings associated with different species. These are not mere botanical decorations. Each element was chosen to tell a story of a characteristic, a memory, or a particular feeling. It is a way to transform the image into a silent but profoundly sincere declaration.
100 Artists at Palazzo Fani between memory and affection
Very often the deepest emotions escape words. While creating the work, destined for the collective contemporary art exhibition “Parlami di te” in Ariccia and then also presented at 100 Artists at Palazzo Fani, I questioned this very theme. How can gratitude be represented? How can affection for a person be visually preserved? Through floral symbolism, I sought a personal answer. Each composition becomes a small emotional archive, a place to cherish relationships, experiences, and feelings that deserve to be remembered.
A work combining drawing, material, and craftsmanship
From a technical point of view, The Language of Flowers is one of the most complex works I have created in recent months. I wanted to combine different techniques and heterogeneous materials, questioning how to do justice to those people who, precisely, talk about me. The ink dialogues on the paper in an almost uncontrolled way, which is why I then inserted rags with stitched paper, while the gold interventions introduce a precious, prominent dimension. I was interested in creating a work that maintained a strong manual component, capable of making visible the time dedicated to its construction.
100 Artists at Palazzo Fani and the value of contemporary art
Events like 100 Artists at Palazzo Fani demonstrate how accessible and engaging contemporary art can be. Free admission allows anyone to approach the works, without limiting their observation. This aspect is fundamental because it allows for the creation of new audiences and stimulates curiosity towards artistic languages often perceived as distant. I believe that culture should be an open and shared space, capable of welcoming people with different experiences and sensibilities.
